Recently we have often heard about how this extra time that we have at home due to COVID-19, will allow us time for personal development. When you think about the term personal development, many different things come to mind. While it may seem daunting in terms of overall scale, the experts are right, this is a perfect time to develop yourself. But where do you start?

First, before you can figure out what you need to improve on, you need to figure out what you do well. As humans, we tend to focus on the negative and take very little time to focus on what we do well. Guess what, you are talented and you have a great skill set. so, make a list, focus on five skills that relate to your business, and build from there.

Now that you have focused on the positive, on a separate list, list the skills that you want to improve, this will probably be easier to think of than the first list but it is equally as important. Try and limit this to just a couple of things, that you feel will truly help you in your professional journey.

Well now that you have two lists in front of you, go ahead and add list-making to that list of strengths cause you are a pro! Take those two lists and choose one thing off of each list that stands out to you. Now you have a strength that you want to make even stronger and a skill that you want to improve upon, it’s time to go to work.

Always keep in mind that you don’t need to dedicate hours and hours a day to this. Even finding ten minutes a day for each will lead to great results that you will not only notice but others will as well.

Make sure to check in next week where we go over the next step in your personal development journey.
