With access to potentially three billion people a month, why is not everybody successful in the social media world? There are a million factors as to why, but it mostly comes down to the fact that if you are not fully invested in growing your channels people will forget about them if they manage to find them at all.


Social media development needs to be a priority for your business plan year after year. When executed properly, this will become your largest contributor to growth in awareness, your first line of communication to prospective clients and demonstrate that you are truly a source of expertise in your field.

The most intriguing part of starting your social media channels is that there is no perfect recipe but there are a couple of key ingredients to focus on:


1. Personalize Content

Ensure that there is a personal touch in everything you post. The customers that you currently have are with you, partly, because there is a connection to you and your brand. If people feel a connection, they are far more likely to participate.


2. Experiment with new ideas

Don’t be afraid to try different things, there is no failure, just experience and lessons learned. Try out polls, live streams, Q&A sessions -- worst-case scenario, the content doesn't connect with your audience and you move on to the next idea until something clicks.


3.Engage with your audience

I have seen many companies make a post and just leave it without following up. You don’t need to respond to all comments but do respond to some and always keep the first ingredient in mind, ensure that there is a personal touch in everything you post.


Rome wasn't built in a day and your social media following won't be either. The important thing to remember is that you grow day by day. So stick with it and you will slowly see gains in most aspects of your business. Remember there are three billion users a month on social media if you can attract 0.00001% of those users you would gain thirty thousand new prospects.
